Delivery, Cancellations and Return
Buying our products
www.makotis.co.za and www.makotis.com enables you to shop for products which include clothing, shoes, clothing accessories, fabric, and haberdashery online. Our website also allows you to place an order for Bespoke items or products made to your size and specification. When you have completed an order and payment for the product and delivery costs has been processed, a binding contract between you and Makotis comes into effect. In the unlikely event that we are unable to supply the product on order at the advertised price because stock is sold out, we will contact you to let you know and you will be entitled to a refund at the value that you paid for such product/s. Your order will only become complete once we have received payment and have confirmed the availability of stock. If you confirm an order on the website but do not make payment within 24 hours, this will not be a sale or an order. Please note that payments from some banks may take more than 2 business days to reflect in our account and we will only be able to confirm the order once we can confirm that we have received your payment.
Cancelling orders (by Makotis)
Sometimes we may be required to cancel orders and we reserve the right to do so. Makotis also may refuse to provide products or services to you if we are unable to verify or authenticate any information you provide to us. If we do so, we will let you know and we will be responsible for reimbursing you the amount you paid if you have already paid for the order.
Cancelling orders (by you)
You also have the right to cancel an order before you make payment by letting us know by email before we have dispatched the item for delivery. For orders cancelled after delivery, please see our Returns policy. In the case of bespoke items, you can only cancel the order before we have begun manufacturing the item for you.
Makotis uses external courier companies to deliver its products within South Africa and outside of South Africa. Special arrangements are required to be made for delivery for customers outside of South Africa.
For delivery outside South Africa, Makotis uses the Expedited Mail Service, provided by the South African Post Offce. EMS is an international priority mail service that provides a fast and reliable door-to-door service to most countries for the dispatch of urgent goods. It can take up to two weeks for delivery to you. The items are trackable. Makotis will provide the necessary commercial documents and you as the customer will be resposible for any taxes or customs handling fees charged by the authoristies in your country. In the case of dutiable items,you may be contacted to collect the items from the Post Office against positive identification. The items will be subject to customs inspections. We usually insure the items sent to a maximum value of R5000, the price of which is included in your shipping costs- this means that we only accept risk to a value of R5000. You bear the risks of the value of the value in excess of R5000. Shipping charges are not part of the insured value and are non-refundable.
For delivery in South Africa, the courier companies usually operate from Monday to Friday and deliver between normal business hours. The goods are delivered to the address you specify in the checkout process. Makotis will not dispatch any goods for delivery prior to receiving payment for the delivery costs.
When your goods are dispatched for delivery, we will usually provide you with a tracking number for the courier company as well as a number which you may call for following up on your order. Orders are usually only delivered to physical address and not PO Box addresses unless prior specific arrangements are made and agreed to by us.
If we or the courier company are unable to deliver at the specified location, we will inform you and may require you to provide us with an alternate address for delivery, or we may cancel the order.
We aim to deliver within the fastest possible time and we usually aim for you to get your goods not later than 6 working days from the date that we have confirmed receipt of your payment. If the goods include a bespoke item, we will aim to deliver no later than 6 days from the agreed completion date of the order.
If we foresee that we are unable to meet to the delivery date, we will try our best to let you know but we will not be liable or responsible for any damages, charges or expenses arising out of late delivery. On delivery of the Product, you may be required to sign for delivery. You must ensure that you properly inspect the Product for any obvious faults, defects or damage before you sign for delivery. For Bespoke items, please check the sizing matches the sizing you specified in your order. It is your responsibility to ensure that the Products are sufficient and suitable for your purposes and meet your individual requirements.
Please note that delivery fees and cash handling fees are non-refundable.
Lost package (inside South Africa deliveries only)
If you cannot track your goods using the tracking number provided, you are welcome to contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org so we can try to locate the goods and have it delivered to you. If the goods are lost, we will contact you to make arrangements to reimburse you for the product and delivery fee.
Items which cannot be returned (non returnable list)
The following items and products supplied by us are non-returnable:
- Fabric. This is because when we take an order for a metered piece of fabric, the fabric has to be cut off (detached) from the roll and cannot be resold.
- Haberdashery products which have been opened. For example cottons or embroidery thread that has been opened are regarded as detached and cannot be resold.
- Products which have been abused, neglected or misused.
- Any other product which you have altered, disassembled, altered.
- Products that have used contrary to our or the manufacturer's instructions for the Product Products which you have attached, joined or combined with other goods.
- Products used, washed or deteriorated through normal wear and tear
Returns (normal returns)
If you are dissatisfied with your purchase, you may return it to Makotis within 30 days of delivery and receive a refund for the product. We do not refund the delivery charge unless the item is a defective item as described below. You can opt to receive a refund, or have the product repaired or replaced. To make arrangements to have the item returned, please contact us.
Usually you will be required to return the item at your own risk and expense unless the item is defective. Refunds will only be processed once we have received and inspected the returned product and confirm that the product does not fall within the non returnable list above.
This section does not apply to products sold outside South Africa. Makotis does its best to ensure that the products are of high quality and fit the description specified on the website. All products supplied in South Africa can be exchanged or refunded if they are faulty, not fit for their intended purpose or do not match the description. You can opt to receive a refund, or have the product repaired or replaced. If the product is defective, we will return the product at our expense. We urge you to contact us in such an event so we can make arrangement to receive the item. Please note that refunds will only be processed once we have received and inspected the returned product and confirm that the product is in fact defective and does not fall within the non returnable list above.
